A private museum close to Mylopotas is housed in Jean Marie Dro’s mansion. The French philhellene built in 1964 his house in Ios and right next to it is a museum of modern art which since 1993 has been hosting paintings and artworks from Greece and abroad and more specifically from France, Poland, Italy, Haiti, etc. here the visitor will also admire sculptures, gravures, photographs and folk items. He was a neighbour and very close friend to the artist Gaitis. The daughter of Gaitios and his wife Simosi, Loretta Gaitis, is an architect. She conceived and built a Museum on the Land of Jean Marie Drot, which houses the art collection of naiv egyptian and Haitian art and greek artists from the middle of last century. This museum is only open on very special occasions.
