Undoubtedly it’s the star of Ios and one of the most known shores of Aegean, famous for being a hippie's meeting point since the 70s. Around 3km south of Chora, cosmopolitan Mylopotas beach “prevails” on a coast 1km long, with golden sands and turquoise waters. Fully organized, with perfect amenities, luxurious hotels, rooms to let, restaurants, and beach bars, it joins visitors of all ages, but most of all, young people from all over the world. Being the base of all-day fun, in its daily agenda you will find beach parties, happenings, loud music, laughter, non-stop fun as well as plenty of water sports. Sports fans will try water skiing, wakeboarding, windsurfing, kayaking, extreme tube rides, diving, and scuba diving.  In Mylopotas, you will also find the world-known Far Out Beach Bar, the most famous and perfectly organized camping in the Cyclades. You will get to Mylopotas by car (either by bus or either your own vehicle) or on foot, by following the path which begins from Chora.

Due to its distance from Chora (23km, so it takes a 60’ min drive to get there), Manganari isn’t crowded thus keeping its low profile. Discover the nearest beach in Chora, an ideal spot for those without transportation means. Known interchangeably as Gialos or Ormos, it's considered an integral part of the main village. Gialos is conveniently reachable by the KTEL bus, connecting it to the port of Iou. Despite its proximity to the port, Gialos boasts crystal-clear and shallow waters, making it perfect for families with children.

Located 10 km northeast of Chora, a vast expanse of golden beach with crystal-clear, azure waters unfolds, offering breathtaking views of Heraklia and embracing the gentle caress of the winds. A portion of this idyllic stretch is thoughtfully organized with umbrellas and sunbeds, creating the perfect setting for swimming, sunbathing, and moments of serene relaxation.
Easy accessibility is ensured through the well-connected island road network, and the local KTEL bus also serves the beach. In Agia Theodoti, you'll discover the 16th-century chapel of the same name, constructed atop the remains of an ancient church. Additionally, a visit to the old aqueduct in the area adds a touch of historical intrigue to your beach retreat. Follow the cobblestone road traversing Gialos beach, and you'll find yourself at the acclaimed Blue Flag beach, Koumbara. This sandy haven, adorned with the prestigious Blue Flag, boasts a well-organized setup, featuring numerous accommodations, shops, and beach bars. It caters to both discerning travelers and families, offering a delightful blend of comfort and relaxation.
At either end of Koumbara, rugged rocks stand tall, forming a magnetic allure for diving enthusiasts. Those fortunate enough to linger until late afternoon are treated to a mesmerizing spectacle—the sun gracefully descending into the expansive Aegean, casting its warm glow behind the enchanting islet of Diakofto. Psathi, located 17 km from Chora on the way to the church of Agia Theodotis, offers a scenic setting with sandy and pebbled beaches, rocks, and deep blue waters. Ideal for windsurfing and water sports enthusiasts, the beach is characterized by its windy conditions. Tamarind trees and umbrellas provide some shade in this beautiful destination northeast of the island.
